October of 2022 the whole world got to witness why highly regarded lightweight Jamaine Ortiz is called "The Technician", Ortiz fighting a 12 rounder for the first time in his career gave Vasyl Lomachenko (17-2, 11KOs) problems to the extent of the Ukrainian showing his frustration in the early rounds. Jamaine "The Technician" Ortiz (16-1-1, 8KOs) had the crowd at The Mecca of Boxing Madison Square Garden in New York City roaring as they witnessed Ortiz give Loma all he can handle for the grueling 12 rounds, but the judges saw it another way as they awarded Loma with the victory and getting his chance to face Undisputed King Devin Haney (28-0, 15KOs) which apparently was already in the works before said match and is now slated for May of 2023. Its been five months since that spectacular performance for "The Technician" but nothing seems to be in the works as to a fight in the near future, sources say that Jeremiah Nakathila has turned down Ortiz in two occasions, up and coming lightweight Keyshawn Davis who is in the same weight division as Jamaine last fought in December of 2022 and is scheduled to fight on the Stevenson- Yoshino main event in April as both Shakur Stevenson and Davis are Top Rank fighters and in the same weight division as Ortiz.
Why is it that Bob Arum and Carl Morreti from Top Rank Boxing find it easy to find fights for other lightweights on their stable and not for Ortiz?, one boxing expert we spoke to said that it is because they are making the mistake of seeing the New Englander as a B side fighter and not a world class A sider as he should be and that will cost them heavily.
Another executive from one of the top boxing promotional companies said that he is watching closely as they would love to sign Ortiz as one of their top fighters, he was also quoted as saying that "I would not be surprised if Golden Boy Promotions, Match Room Boxing and Premier Boxing Champions are also watching the Ortiz situation closely.
