With all the chatter going on in the off season about the New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick being in the outs with QB Mac Jones and all the rumors that Jones was being shopped around to be traded one would think that having the number fifteen over all selection in the 2023 NFL Draft that NE would select one of the highly regarded QB's in the first two rounds.

Well that was not the case so Mac Jones will battle it out with Bailey Zappe on the 2023 season for the starting roll, however the Pats did sign Louisville QB Malik Cunningham as an undrafted free agent. The rookie QB comes at a high price as he has a higher total guarantee than five of the Patriots twelve 2023 NFL Draft picks, Malik who ran a 4.53-second 40 yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine was also the fifth fasted player overall clocked at 20.99 MPH at the Senior Bowl. Even though the rookie started rookie mini camp at QB one wonders if with that speed and versatility will the Pats transition the Louisville product to wide receiver as they have in the past creating elite players at the position as with Julian Edelman who also was a QB in college and came in drafted as one. At the moment Malik is listed on the 2023 roster as a QB but we are months away from finding out what about the QB controversy that was heard during the off season and was this talented player drafted and brought in to seriously compete for the number one signal caller roll this coming season or will be another diamond in the rough for Bill who loves to transition skilled players and make them elite.
